QUEBEC IMMIGRATION CANDIDATES

Skilled workers, also known as independent immigrants, are people who can become permanent residents because they are able to contribute to and integrate into the socio-economic life of Quebec and Canada. With respect to the Skilled Worker immigration category, it is important to note that there are dual selection regulations, i.e., skilled workers intending to settle in the province of Quebec are selected according to criteria that differ from those who wish to settle elsewhere in English-speaking Canada. Our experienced team will conduct a dual evaluation of your profile in order to determine your province of destination and thus maximize your chances of success. In 2009, Quebec City changed its immigration policy. The new evaluation structure reflects Quebec's desire to attract young immigrants who have specialized studies in particular fields of study. In fact, the following criteria will determine whether a foreign national (candidate) is eligible for permanent resident status as a skilled worker for Quebec :

  1. Age (with the maximum points given to candidates between 18 and 35 years old);
  2. Education;
  3. Field of study (more points are given for candidates who have completed their studies in fields that are highly in demand in Quebec);
  4. Work experience;
  5. Language skills including French and English (with a strong emphasis on the French language);
  6. The education, age and language skills of the spouse/common-law partner in French;
  7. Close family members in Quebec;
  8. Previous studies, work or travel in Quebec;
